Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. ~ Proverbs 16: 18-19 (KJV)

Guess what today’s topic is? You guessed it, pride! This is a hard one for me, because even though I’m not generally prideful, i’m often proud.

I find it difficult to ask for help of any kind. Then I feel frustrated; like my life is a to-do list. Lately, I’ve been under the weather and things have slipped in the housekeeping department. Right now, there is play-dough film stuck to the kitchen table, dishes in the sink, unfolded laundry in the dryer, and folded laundry in both the living room and my bedroom. The cherry on top is two-fold: dinner that needs to be made and a house that, besides what I’ve listed above, is in a general state of disarray. I’m overwhelmed. So tonight I’ll tackle it after Little Man’s bedtime.

Why am I so concerned about this? I like to keep a clean home. I’m prideful of being able to have a place that is mess-free* where anyone could stop by at anytime. I’m also too proud to ask for help getting it back that way after having been sick.

Oh, wait. I guess I am prideful. About this and a lot of things.

Wanna come help me clean?

*toy messes in the living room between the hours of wake-time and bed-time are the exception to this statement. But, that’s to be expected with a pre-school-aged child.
