>The last two weeks have been challenging ones. I don’t know if it’s the change in teh weather or the full moon, but it feels as though the kid and the dog are ganging up on me. I can’t say I’ve handled it well. I’ve given stern talkings-to, time-outs, ‘butt ‘pankin’s’, and have raised my voice at both of them more times than I care to count. It has not been fun.

Sunday, I went to a baby shower for a neighbor who will be having her first child (a girl) in about 5 weeks. At the beginning of the shower, the mom-to-be had all of the guests put their names and addresses on envelopes, and put advice on little pieces of paper. Both would be drawn (and advice read) at a later time in the shower. I was expecting to hear all of the normal stuff, which I did. What I wasn’t expecting were these (very convicting) words from a 15-year-old guest: Always be an example of Jesus to your little girl. Wow.

That really hit me hard. This is something I have NOT been to the kid over the last two weeks. I took these words to heart and guess what? Things have gone much more smoothly this week. When kiddo tests me, I calmly ask, ‘do you want to sit on the step?’. So far this week… no temper tantrums. From either of us.
