>Mommy’s little "helper"

>
Since yesterday rapidly became a cold, wet, stay inside kind of day, I took advantage of it and gave the house a thorough cleaning. The kind of empty and wipe down the cupboards day that I like to have once in a while. Kiddo even got in on the fun.

When I stepped away from the kitchen sink to change over the laundry, Kiddo got into the dish-cleaning supplies. There was no need to call Poison Control, none went into the mouth. Only a bit of dishwasher detergent was spilled on the floor. I cleaned it up, scolded the kid for getting into a place where he knew he shouldn’t have been, and life went on.

Fast forward to 10:00 PM. I want to put detergent into the dishwasher and go to bed. What do I find? An empty box of dishwasher detergent. No big deal, I just got out the liquid and put it in instead. Then I noticed it. Dry detergent in the bottom of the dishwasher. I finally realized what my little helper had done. He poured the entire contents (about 1/4 of a box!) of detergent into the dishwasher. Needless to say, our dishes were extra-clean this morning!

The kicker to all of this is the conversation we had over breakfast:

Me: Did you pour soap into mommy’s dishwasher yesterday?
LM: I do.
Me: Why did you do that?
LM: Want to clean Mcqueen* cup!

The little guy’s heart was in the right place, even though his hands weren’t.

*Mcqueen referrs to the character Lightning Mcqueen in the movie Cars.
